Hello everyone! It is another snowy weekend here in Kansas! I hope you have all had a great week! I've been a little M.i.A. on the blog because, well, it's been a busy couple of weeks! I was so excited to get to visit my family in Wichita as well as attend some awesome continuing education there. [Separate blog post on that coming soon. It was packed so full of awesome information I can't shove it into a single sentence!] I've also made some updates to my site and social media platforms, including a NEW logo which I'm so excited about! All in all, it has been a productive, full couple of weeks, but I'm glad to be back sharing hair tips with you all.

This week is kind of special because it takes us back to the basics. I have so many parents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, etc. tell me in salon how they could never hope to do the little girl in their life's hair and I decided no more of that! I've been dropping some short style how-to videos on my YouTube once a week, but we went a little more in depth on this one. We are going back to the basics of braiding!

Did you know the super cute style above was created using a simple three-strand braid? It's true! I just did three of them on the top half of her head, braided those three strands together, ponytailed, and voila! a super cute style that, at its foundation is really oh so simple. I go in depth this week to teach four basic braid skills; three strand over, three strand under, french braid, and dutch braid. These are your bread-and-butter braids that will build a foundation for your braiding skills without making it complicated. They are truly so simple once you get the hang of them and, with a little practice, you can create styles that look way more complicated than they actually are.

How'd it go? Did you learn something? Questions? Shoot me a message or leave me a comment. I'd love to hear from you. Everyday styles do not have to be complicated and I love that these simple braids can be dressed up for an everyday pretty, simple look. Braids can be intimidating, but practice is the best thing you can do to build your confidence and speed. Trust me! I practice all day long everyday!

I hope this lends you more confidence and know-how when it comes to making the little gal in your life feel beautiful, or making yourself feel beautiful! That is my main goal at the end of the day. Whether it be right, wrong, or indifferent the way we feel we look on the outside can strongly affect the way we feel about ourselves on the inside, and I just want to do my part to make those feelings ones of confidence, happiness, and contentment.

Blessings to you all until next time!
